BACKGROUND — Filipino farm workers in California 1960's

The main objectives for the fabrication of the pit: a seamless concrete exterior and waterproof interior for the black goo.

PROCESS

PROP FABRICATION — beer cans, pennies, weathering & aging, etc.

*With the exception of the tree shafts, everything was created from scratch.

PROCESS

Assembly of set — from beginning to final set dressing (left to right).
PRACTICAL EFFECTS — gurgling pit mechanism, throwing up hemp rope, condensation on can, twitching frog, actions in goo tank, etc.
